The minister said that Europe's fundamental security interests are to maintain the stability of Lebanon, this is the reason why Hungary has proposed to the EU to provide an additional EUR 400 million for the development of the Lebanese economy, in addition to the EUR 400 million earmarked for coping with refugee crisis. The Hungarian government supports the Government of Lebanon in implementing the restoration program for Christian churches providing an EUR 1.5 million aid to renovate 32 Christian churches in Lebanon. The minister also pointed out that that Hungary participates in the UNIFIL providing the cartographic service of the United Nations mission. Hungary’s position is that the costs for the mission should in no way be reduced because the stability of Lebanon is crucial for the security and stability of the whole Middle East.
